The “Asufi” Association – an organization for post-traumatic combatants, was founded in 2018 by Eyal Malachi, a combat veteran who was only recognized as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after 35 years of struggle.

The name of the association comes from the call sign of Battalion 202 during the First Lebanon War and represents the main goal that led to its establishment: to gather all combat veterans in Israel who are not recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Defense for various reasons and are left to cope with their difficulties on their own.

Combatants suffering from PTSD tend to deal with many symptoms, including difficulty in basic functioning, fatigue and stress, shame, irritability, depression, and more. Due to these severe symptoms, combat veterans struggle to work and support their families, and some even reach a point of dire need.

Asufi is an organization that assists combat veterans in difficult situations, before or after recognition.

We help with legal procedures and filing PTSD recognition claims at the Ministry of Defense, appeals against the Ministry of Defense’s decisions, accompaniment in committees, as well as assistance with food and finances in cases of severe distress. Asufi is one of the only organizations that focuses on very difficult cases and provides special assistance.

The association is able to exist thanks to the donations of good people willing to give from their own pockets and selves for all those who cannot reach out. Thanks to your support and help, we can assist many more whose only request is to live with dignity.
